Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure which gently resurfaces the skin. Microdermabrasion exfoliation is performed with a diamond tip which brushes the skin's surface with the aid of a gentle vacuum. This action removes dead and damaged cells at the skin's surface. By eliminating these surface cells with microdermabrasion, the skin is left soft and supple while forcing the regeneration of new skin cells. Microdermabrasion at Bellair Laser Center is combined with a complete facial which includes treatment creams, a mask, high frequency and extractions if necessary.
Bellair Laser Center uses only FDA approved microdermabrasion systems which have been documented to effectively minimize the appearance of:
• Fine lines
• Sun damaged skin
• Dull and congested skin
• Uneven skin tones and textural damaged skin
• Enlargened pores
After a microdermabrasion treatment, the skin may feel tight. Some indiviRestores experience light flaking of the skin, therefore, it is important to use a good moisturizer as advised by our skin therapists. Otherwise there are minimal side effects, which is why microdermabrasion is often described as the lunch hour procedure.
Depending on the condition of your skin, our skin therapists may advise multiple treatments and/or combining microdermabrasion with Chemical peels, Photo Rejuvenation, and Laser Facial treatments for optimal results. Microdermabrasion facials are usually kept at 2-3 week intervals and maintenance treatments are usually performed once a month. Microdermabrasion treatments are approximately 45 minutes in length.
Chemical peels are exfoliation treatments which smooth out upper layers of the skin with the use a chemical or acid. Chemical peels have been performed in Canada and the U.S. for many years and are very common amongst those who have skin concerns. Bellair Laser Center offers Skinceuticals professional chemical peels for a various skin concerns.
Glycolic acid (AHA) is an alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugar cane. It exfoliates the skin and contributes to enhanced skin hydration, smoothes fine lines and improves the skin's texture and tone. Glycolic acid peels are great anti-aging treatments that help the skin to regenerate itself. Glycolic acid is a popular chemical peel amongst young adults and those who want to brighten the skin.
Salicylic chemical peels are often used to control breakout prone skins. Salicylic acid (BHA) is a beta hydroxy acid which is an oil soluble solution derived from willow bark, wintergreen leaves and birch bark. This chemical peel helps oily prone skins by dissolving bacteria. Salicylic acid peels also promote cutaneous shedding as well as dissolving black-heads and white-heads. Salicylic chemical peels are also popular for mature skins who want to regenerate the skin on a deeper level than what is typically achieved with microdermabrasion treatment or glycolic peels. By stimulating cutaneous shedding, we are able to exfoliate the deep layers of the skin which improves fine lines, pigmentation and wrinkles. Salicylic chemical peels are safe for all skin types.
Lactic acid is derived from milk. Due to its molecular size, being larger than AHA and BHA molecules, Lactic acid chemical peels do not penetrate as deep as Glycolic acid peels and Salicylic acid peels. This chemical peel is designed for those who do not require deep skin exfoliation and/or those who have dry, sensitive skin. Lactic acid peels are also effective and gentle enough for those with Rosacea.
Chemical peels can effectively improve:
• Blackheads and Whiteheads
• Fine lines
• Rough skin texture
• Uneven skin tone
• Dull skin
Glycolic, Salicylic and Lactic acid Chemical peels are available in various concentrations and combinations. The intensity level will vary depending on your particular skin concern.
